  • ICSP programming PIC16LF1847 with U2 Programmer, MCL/Vpp voltage limiter.

Just starting off using a 16LF1847 and I noticed that in an older version of the datasheet the ICSP section suggests using a "Vpp limiter circuit". This limits the high voltage Vpp output of the programmer to the specified 8VDC to 9 VDC. In the newer datasheet this is omitted.

The question is, should this "Vpp limiter circuit" be implemented for programming or has everyone had success programming without?

    From the U2 programmer specs:

    From the 16LF1847 datasheet:

The U2 programmer automatically adjusts to the VPP voltage appropriate for the selected device.

In the meProg software ... select the chip in the drop-down, then go to View > Volts and press the Read Actual button.

That will show the VPP and VDD voltages being used for the selected chip.
