  • PBP3 Gold wont produce hex file

    Hi Darrell,

I followed you instructions as to where to unzip the file and I tried one of your examples, but the results don't show any info on the size. Any ideas?

    Do you get any errors?

Did you put both the include and define in your code?

    INCLUDE "CodeSize.pbp"
    DEFINE Measure 1

Does the define have the EXACT case "Measure"?

      Hi Darrel,

No I don't get any errors. I copied and pasted your example given. I do have the includes you mentioned. Thanks.

Take a screenshot of yours, and maybe we can spot a problem.

          Hi Darrel,

Not sure how to post a pic,but here is my code copied from the IDE.

          Code:
          INCLUDE "CodeSize.pbp"
          DEFINE Measure 1

          row VAR BYTE
          temp VAR BYTE

          @ StartSize(Select)
              SELECT CASE row
          @ StartSize(Case1)
                  CASE 1 : temp = $80
          @ EndSize(Case1)
                  CASE 2 : temp = $C0
                  CASE 3 : temp = $90
                  CASE 4 : temp = $D0
              END SELECT
          @ EndSize(Select)

          @ StartSize(Lookup)
              LOOKUP row,[$80,$80,$C0,$90,$D0],temp
          @ EndSize(Lookup)

          @ LibrarySize

            Yup, that's the code.
But it's the results from the compile that will help figure it out.

            Try attaching the .LST file.

              Hi Darrel,

I created a new program and copied the code over. I compiled, but a .lst file is not being created. Here is the screen shot

                CharlieM,

That image indates "Success" without any words used. Which usually means that the compile process is not completeing.

Are you able to compile anything?
Try the blink.pbp program in the c:\PBP3\EXAMPLES folder.

If you are unable to compile anything ...
Close MCSPX and MPLAB, then run the MPASM MPLAB setup utility from Start > PBP3 from melabs
Make sure the path is set to ...
                c:\program files\microchip\mpasm suite - for 32-bit systems
                c:\program files (x86)\microchip\mpasm suite - for 64-bit systems

After that, although you shouldn't need to, reboot the computer to make sure everything gets setup.

                  Hi Darrel,

I did confirm that PBP is not compiling. Do I need to make sure that to path in compile/program options is set to c:\program files\microchip\mpasm suite - for 32-bit systems? Would I be better off just removing it and reinstalling it?
                  Regards CharlieM

                      So, the reinstall didn't work?

Did you get any errors while reinstalling?

What type of computer are you using?

                      What Operating System?

                        Hi Darrel,

No the reinstall did not work. I am running a dell P4 3 ghz with 4 mg of ram. The OS is Win 7 ultimate. I may try it again and delete all the registry entries as well.
                        Regards CharlieM

OK, make sure you are logged in as an administrator.

And if you have an oddball anti-virus like kaspersky, webroot or other, try temporarily disabling it.
                          Norton and mcafee are ok.

OK I deleted all the registry entries and reinstalled everything and repaired the install if MPLAB. Everything works now. Thanks. Even the Code size v2 example.
