  • embeded encription devices for secure updates

Hi charles , have you or any one else used an external IC
ATAES132A to protect and update the firmware of 18F chip

I haven't encountered anyone using a device like this. I've used a similar method (if I'm understanding this correctly) that involved encrypted files on an SD card.

Try to follow.its going work for updates to both a external flash and more important CPU code space , cos no encryption chip can't hold the entire pic code , and if I monitored caputured the spi bus I would have a complete copy of the decripted code anyway ???

Yes. If unencrypted data is transferred via SPI (or I2C), it is relatively easy to intercept.

I can only follow so far and it seems you're way ahead of me.
