  • PIC 16F84 Resonator 4mhz

    Which Murata resonator will work the best?

    https://www.arrow.com/en/products/se...4;Pin+Count:3;

    Am headed towards getting all of them.

    15 30 and 47 ppf capacitor ratings.

    I believe the optimum is about 18pF.

      Thank you for the response.

      I am going to deal with external oscillator PIC's later.

      Will use PIC for PIC Basic that has an internal oscillator.

        That's what I did. I started out with PICAXE to learn about Microprocessors, then I bought the PIC versions of the PICAXE chips as a first step with PBP3. I learned how to read Data Sheets a bit better and expanded my PIC inventory with chips that did things relevant to what I happen to be working on at the time.. I do have some PIC16F877A chips I bought to learn from some out-dated PIC books (stashed away in the "junk" bin), but as Microchip introduces newer MCUs, my inventory evolves. I happen to really like the internal oscillator feature. With exceptions of a few instances where VERY EXACTING TIMING is required, the INTOSC works quite well for most everything (even USART/SPI/I2C communications). I can tell by your numerous posts you are taking this PIC subject seriously, asking questions when something doesn't make sense to you. I want you to know I'm on your side rooting for you in the sidelines. I hope you stay with it, as you seem to be the type that has the capability to have passion for something. From what I've seen, that is indeed rare.
        We can crack this cotton PIC'n thang!

          Mike

          I bought a new unused unopened Microchip ICD kit.

          Not an ICD 2 or 3. The original ICD.

          $14 mistake sort of. MPLAB IDE 5.30 won't run on Windows 8.1

          Learned something though. ICD no. ICD 2 yes.

          You just had to mention your 16F877's. The kit is for 16F87x's!

          Going to finish testing 16F84 and then put it away for now.
