  • ME Labs Trainer issue (MPASMX)

    ME Labs Trainer

I purchased the Trainer hoping to find BASIC easier than C. The programs loaded OK and when the USB cord to the trainer was plugged in, all the lights on the trainer flashed properly.

However the first action required on page 13 Para 1.4.2 said press the compile button. This action caused an error message “ERROR: Unable to execute MPASMX”. Running on Windows 7. I reloaded the programs again from Disk.. Same issue. I also followed the guidance in the manual below.

Cannot execute MPASMWIN (MPASMX) – Something went wrong in the installation, causing PBP to get disconnected from MPASM. Go to Start > All Programs > PBP3 from ME Labs and run the MPLAB-MPASM Setup utility. Use the browse button to locate a folder called MPASM Suite or MPASMX. This folder is usually found in C:\Program Files\Microchip or C:\Program Files(x86)\Microchip. Restart MicroCode Studio after finishing the setup utility.

Still receiving the same error message. Would appreciate any guidance. This is so frustrating to obtain a simple programming course that I cannot get past step one. 

In Microcode Studio, click View > Compile And Program Options. Find a checkbox there labeled "Use MPASMX Assembler". Change it and try the compile again (try it both ways).

Let me know if the change has any effect.

      Success

      Charles,

I unchecked the box as your instructions indicated--and it compiled OK. Thanks. I would have never found this on my own.
